Photo of the Day: Through a Boy’s Eyes (NYC Part 2).

Through a Boy's Eyes (NYC part 2). Taken November 2, 2011 on a bus to NYC.

I shot this on the bus headed to NYC for a photo shoot with the incomparable Osiris Wildfire.  We had a really fun time shooting on the streets of lower Manhattan, by the way.  I’ll be posting up highlights from that shoot real soon.

So I was sitting in the seat behind this delightful little boy and marveling at how intensely he was looking out the window, silently soaking in all of the sights of the journey from Philadelphia through NJ to NYC.  I captured a bunch of images, but this and two others were my absolute favorites.

Here is the first image of the series:  Part one

Here is the third image of the series:  Part three

By the time you see this post, I’ll be on a bus headed for New York City (yesssss!!!) with this guy, singer/songwriter Osiris Wildfire for a photo shoot.  Remember the name, remember the face, because he is the truth!

Photo of the Day: Caught on the Street (At Least He Said Please).

Taken August 19, 2011 in Philadelphia, PA

This image is from a photo walk I went on in Center City…a wild night was had by all, including this guy who had no problems asking for what he wanted.  And…he was wearing a leather jacket in the middle of summer…What’s up with that!!!

Photo of the Day: Caught on the Street (Standing Room Only On the 23 Bus).

Hey everybody, glad to be back today… today didn’t get off to a good start but as they say, it’s all uphill from the bottom.

Yesterday, I ended up taking an unplanned trip to West Philly’s 52nd Street for the first time, and of course, the camera came along with me and was put to good use.  Over the next few days, here and on my Facebook Page, I’ll be posting some of my favorite images from that impromptu photo walk.

Taken August 17, 2011 in Philadelphia, PA

The above image was of a young girl who got on the crowded 23 bus with her sister and her mother.  I was sitting, she was standing, as were most of the other people.  She didn’t seem too happy about it, but she was intently watching me snap photos of a little boy sitting in the front of the bus in the space where you’re supposed to put your luggage and packages.  So I caught her while she wasn’t looking at me. I wonder what she was looking at….

Oh, the joy of street photography…..

Photo of the Day: Caught on the Street (Night Class).

Yesterday, I took a short break from searching for subjects for my Portraits of Philadelphia Camera series and got back on the streets of Mt. Airy to capture a few images….  the outtake for the below image can be found here.  …. Maybe I’ll get up the nerve (and the cash) to take a class!

Taken August 15, 2011, in Philadelphia, PA

Photo of the Day: Meet Dianna.

Taken July 26, 2011 in Philadelphia, PA.

I had the pleasure of photographing Dianna, whom I’d had noticed at the library many times before I got up the nerve to approach her.  Actually I didn’t approach her directly, I approached her friend, whom I found out later was her student.

Dianna is a veteran middle school teacher who tutors during the summer, and I found out from her during our time together that she’s leaving Philadelphia to take a teaching gig in Baltimore.

I wear locs, and I’m always intrigued by other loc wearers, and Dianna’s are simply stunning.  See one of my outtakes posted to my Facebook Fan Page.

Two words:  Mission accomplished!  Thanks Dianna and good luck in your relocation!

Photo of the Day: Meet Yara.

Taken July 26, 2011 in Philadelphia, PA.

Yara is a reporter with Newsworks who was kind enough to allow me to take her photograph a few days ago.  I approached her for her photograph at the library, and she was very cooperative and made some small talk as well.
